RISEN

Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.

And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.

And they entered in and found not the body of the Lord Jesus Christ.

And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:

And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?

He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,

saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified and on the third day rise again. And they remembered his words” Luke 24: 1-8

The greatest day in human history or the history of the universe.

I can’t imagine the sorrow of Mary as she witnessed his death, this fulfilled what was spoken to when she had presented him as a baby at the temple.

” And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.

And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.

And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,

Then he took him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,

Lord, now lettest thy servant depart (die) in peace, according to thy word:

For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,

Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;

A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

And Joseph and his mother marvelled at these things which were spoken of him,

And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his Mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against.

Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also that the thoughts of many may be revealed,” Luke 2:25-35

Jesus was sent to not only redeem Israel but to bring salvation to us, the Gentiles, which basically covers all other groups of people.

He brought salvation to the entire world, all that will accept him.

I think of Mary’s sorrow as a sword truly pierced through her heart at his death.

I think of all who loved him and all of us who love him now and the crucifixion story breaks our hearts into at what he suffered and that he suffered that for us.

And I think of the angels, the host of heaven, that love and adore him, how they must have sorrowed as he left heaven, not to even imagine seeing him tormented and murdered by mortal men.

As he told the disciple who tried to defend him at his arrest, he could ask God for twelve thousand angels to be sent, but all of these things had to come to pass, so that we could be reconciled back to him forever.

I have never read how they felt but knowing that they rejoice at the salvation of just one of us, I can only imagine the joy and the praise that rang out on that glorious morning.

The joy of Mary and the disciples, the joy of all who have ever believed, the joy of the angels and the knowledge that death had been defeated and the grave had no more power.

In one glorious moment he changed it all.

May his blessing be yours today, Have a wonderful Joyous Easter!

Wherever the path leads…

“…O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.

Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandeth my thought afar off.

Thou compassest (surrounds) my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.

Thou hast beset (enclosed) me behind and before and laid thine hand upon me.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is highI cannot attain unto it.

Whither (where) shall I go from thy spirit? Or whiter shall I flee from thy presence?

If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: If I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.” Psalms 139:1-10

That is probably a familiar passage, and we used a portion of it in a recent post. I want to look at it today in its entirety and take breaks to discuss crucial points.

Nothing is as mind-blowing and as comforting as the realization that God is omnipresent.

He can be anywhere and everywhere at any given time, the devil does not have this ability.

The reason this is so important for us is that it helps us to understand that the very moment we need him, he is there, and he always watches over us.

His mercy and protection surround us, his presence will guide us, and his right hand defends us.

He is there when we wake, he is there when we fall asleep, he is there when we travel, he is there when we return home, no place in heaven, hell, or on the earth that he is not aware of our location.

As David said in writing this, such knowledge is so far over our human heads that we can’t even understand it.

But it gets even better: Isaiah 65:24: “And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.”

On we go “If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.

Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.” Psalms 139:11.12

God created it all and it is the same to him, he sees us in the dark as well as in the light, that I do believe also has spiritual symbolism as he sees us in our lives when our lives are dark with sin and he saves us from that darkness.

“For thou hast possessed my reins (planned the course of life): thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.

I will praise thee, for I am fearfully (amazingly)and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. (formed together inside the mother)

Thine eyes did see my substance yet being unperfect (not yet formed)and in thy book all my members (limbs) were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as YET there was NONE of them.” Psalms 139:13-16

Now that answers the question of when does life begin, not that the world would listen.

This is before we were ever formed in our mother’s womb, God had a plan for our lives.

He in advance had even our physical appearance decided before we physically existed and from his design he formed us.

Who cares what the world thinks of us, God himself created us to be exactly as he wanted us to be.

“How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them, they are more in number than the sand:

when I awake, I am still with thee.” Psalms 139:17,18

How good is that? His thoughts toward you are precious, he thinks wonderful, good things about you, and he thinks those thoughts often.

Think about holding a sleeping baby in your arms and how precious and wonderful that child is, that is how he views his children.

And David goes on, that even when he awakes from death itself, He will still be with him. God gave David this revelation and had that revelation given to us through his word.

David was not a just a special child, we are all special to him and he interacts with so individually just as we interact individually with others.

Some people are gentler and sensitive while others are bolder and zealous, independent and as with human children God knows what each of his children responds to.

That is the beauty of your heavenly Father, and nothing is as beautiful in his eyes as his children. Wherever your path may lead you can rest assured that he is already there.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Have a wonderfully blessed day!
